All living things have been stressed by this summer’s weather. This includes your trees and plants. Because of this, leaves are already dropping and we expect that leaves will fall early this year. What can you do to help your trees prior to winter?

Water – In between rains, we recommend watering so that plants don’t go into winter under drought stress.

Fertilize – During fall, plants store reserves for surviving the winter and growing during the spring. Fertilizing plants can increase the production of reserves, giving your plant a jump start come spring.

Trimming – We recommend against trimming plants in the early fall. Plants need all the leaves they can to produce those winter reserves. Wait to trim plants until the leaves have fallen off.
