Lawn Seeding Services in Minnesota
Transform Your Lawn with Expert Seeding Services
Seeding is one of the most effective ways to transform your lawn, enhancing density, repairing bare spots, and introducing advanced grass genetics for improved pest resistance and drought tolerance. At bioLawn, our seeding services pair premium seed blends—like Kentucky Bluegrass, Fine Fescues, and Perennial Ryegrass—with expert techniques to ensure strong establishment and lasting results. While varying conditions may require multiple years of seeding to achieve optimal outcomes, our agronomy team provides personalized guidance to create a vibrant, uniform lawn built to thrive.
Our Seeding Options

Maintenance Seeding
Maintenance Seeding is perfect for introducing newer grass genetics and improving lawn density. It involves spreading new grass seed across your existing lawn, and dragging it in with a drag mat.
Best for lawns that are generally in good condition, but may benefit from newer genetics or are just beginning to lose density and show signs of thinning.

Renovation Seeding
Renovation seeding is ideal for lawns that have bare exposed soil areas or have been neglected for years. This process involves breaking up the soil through aggressive core aeration and incorporating seed into the affected areas.
Best for lawns that have bare exposed soil in areas or very thin and sparse. Often lawns with a significant amount of shade are great candidates for Renovation Seeding
What Time of Year is Best to Seed?

Spring Seeding
- Done during April, May, or June
- Not Recommended – as summer temperatures and weather often kill much of spring-planted seed.
- Not Recommended – as spring seeding encourages more weed growth.

Fall Seeding
- Done during August and September
- Ideal for establishing grass prior to winter so it is actively growing in the spring.
- Requires irrigation – Ideal for lawns with inground irrigation systems or when watering can be regularly done.

Dormant Seeding
- Done during November
- It is ideal to take advantage of the winter vernalization process and get grass to grow early in the spring.
- Minimal irrigation required – Ideal for lawns that do not have inground irrigation systems and difficulty in following regular watering protocols
