Stop Vole Damage Before It Spreads

Voles may be small, but the damage they cause can quickly add up. These pests create surface runways, chew through grass and plant roots, and leave behind brown, damaged patches across your lawn. bioLawn’s professional vole control services are designed to target active infestations, prevent further destruction, and help restore the health and appearance of your yard.

Vole Control

Voles are small rodents that feed on plants, roots, fruits, and seeds. They often live in unmaintained areas but cross lawns to find new habitats. During the winter, voles venture out into the lawn, creating brown tracks and nesting patches that become visible in the spring. This activity can damage grass and leave larger patches that require repair.

bioLawn’s Vole Control Treatment:

Our vole control treatment features an organic repellent applied in the fall. This natural irritant discourages voles from spending time in your yard. While it doesn’t guarantee complete vole removal, it significantly reduces their activity, resulting in fewer brown tracks in the spring.

Spring Recovery Tips for Vole Damage:

  • Patience: Allow the soil to dry out and grass to grow actively.
  • Light Raking: Rake brown areas gently to encourage healthy grass to fill in.
  • Seeding: For larger brown patches, reseeding can speed up recovery and restore your lawn’s appearance.

Vole FAQs

How do I repair vole damage in the spring?

Wait until the soil dries out. Then lightly rake the vole trails to stand up the grass and remove some of the dead grass. The areas will naturally recover as the spring progresses, but you can seed these areas to speed up the recovery.

Does the vole treatment work?

We have had a lot of success reducing vole activity with fall vole treatment. You may still see some activity in normal years as the voles have to go onto the lawn to realize they don’t want to be there. When vole populations are significant damage may occur. But in our experience the damage is significantly less than if no treatment was done.

What else can be done if voles are a significant problem?

In addition to a vole repellant, we recommend using pest control bait boxes. Consult a pest control professional to make sure these are deployed correctly.

Do voles harm grass during the summer?

During the summer, voles prefer to remain in native areas and landscape areas due to the protection they provide from predators. Therefore, voles do not spend significant time in the lawn during the summer. As a result, voles do not cause damage to the lawn during the summer.
