Our Story
A passion for family and turf is at the heart of the bioLawn story. It started with childhood memories on the golf course, which turned into a summer job in turf, and eventually grew into a lifelong career in turfgrass science and management. Over the years, our leadership gained experience supporting lawn care companies, sports fields, and golf courses across the country. Along the way, we learned not only what it takes to grow great grass, but also what it takes to earn long term trust through customer service and teamwork. As their families grew, so did their desire to create something meaningful and local. That’s how bioLawn was born…
In 2002, bioLawn was founded with a simple goal: use expert knowledge and environmentally responsible practices to create healthier outdoor spaces for families. As our company grew, we expanded to meet more homeowner needs, including launching bioTree in 2010, adding mosquito and tick services in 2017, merging with Healthy Grass in 2020, and launching bioLights in 2022 to strengthen our service and expertise even further.
As we continued to grow, we moved our headquarters to Newport, MN in 2022, acquired Hantho Outdoor Services’ application business in 2024, and opened our Ramsey, MN branch in 2025 to better serve more communities across the Twin Cities. Today, our mission remains the same: we use environmentally sound practices and safer products to create nurturing environments for the families in the communities we serve. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges of caring for lawns in the Upper Midwest, we are proud to support our team, their families, and the people who trust us with their outdoor spaces.

The treatment of your lawn is guided by a team of three agronomists with master’s degrees in turfgrass science and more than 100 years of combined experience in managing grass. We work with university researchers to test and select products that deliver the best results for Twin Cities conditions.
Aaron
A Woodbury native, Aaron holds a bachelor’s in Horticulture and a master’s in Plant Science focusing on Turfgrass Management from the University of Minnesota. With over a decade of experience advising green industry professionals on sustainable practices, Aaron brings science-based solutions to lawn care. Outside work, he enjoys coaching his kid’s hockey and baseball teams and playing golf.
Dennis
A Como Park native bringing over 20 years of customer service experience, including 12 years in training and retention for a national company. Since joining bioLawn, his talent for teaching and simplifying ideas has elevated team performance and customer satisfaction. Outside of work, Dennis enjoys leading a summer golf league and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Matt
Matt’s passion for turfgrass began with a summer golf course job in Mounds View. He holds a bachelor’s in Golf Course Management from Kansas State and a master’s in Applied Plant Science from the University of Minnesota. As bioLawn’s Operations Director, Matt brings decades of turf management and leadership to the team. Outside work, he enjoys family time with his two sons, who entertain his lawn care discussions.
Will
A South Minneapolis native, Will earned a bachelor’s in Turfgrass Science from the University of Minnesota and a master’s from the University of Tennessee. His career includes maintaining iconic turf like Wimbledon courts, NCAA sports fields, and private golf courses. At bioLawn, Will combines his turf expertise with a passion for sustainable lawn care. Outside work, he enjoys exploring the outdoors and visiting U.S. national parks.
